The Father You Were Denied
07/06/03 |
Down the busy road of life
many children have been hurt.
Some have been badly abused
and treated just like dirt.
Some never knew their fathers
nor understood why they were gone.
Mothers ended up having to work,
and leaving children home alone.
They had no one to discipline
so they began to rob and steal.
Some even went a step further
and with a gun began to kill.
They grew up being very bitter,
with hearts overflowing with hate.
Because of a father that didn't care,
for many children it's now too late!
Forgiveness is the only answer
to those who did you wrong.
Cry out to the Father of the fatherless;
He's sitting there on His throne.
He'll take away the bitterness
and the hate that you feel inside.
He'll forgive you if you ask Him,
and be the Father you were denied.

The Beauty Of Spring
07/25/03
|
The clouds so white
The sky so blue
Everything is so beautiful
That was made by You
The yellow daisies
The roses so red
That grow so gracefully
In a garden bed
The moist green leaves
The velvety green grass
It seems their beauty
Too soon does pass
The petals of a dogwood
The honeysuckles smell
Which one is more radiant
It's so hard to tell
The blooms of the buttercup
The orange marigolds
There is nothing so beautiful
That this world holds
The purple of an iris
The tiger lilies spots
I love all of these
Including the touch-me-nots
I cannot describe it
All the Beauty of Spring
But I know that my God
He made all of these things

Rain, Rain, Raining
08/15/03
|
Rain, rain, raining
such a peaceful sound.
Splish, splash, splashing
as it dances on the ground.
Pour, pour, pouring
down from heavens throne.
It will not last forever
so feel the rain before it's gone.
Rain, rain, raining
like millions of tiny tears.
Could it be our Lord is weeping
for those who closed their ears?
Or could it be a blessing
that He's sent to us below?
To revive, restore, and refresh
the drooping heart and thirsty soul.

The Rain
09/21/03
 |
I can hear the rain
as it falls from the sky.
It's a blessing from God
for everything was so dry.
I so love to listen
to the sound of the rain
as it pitters and patters
on the window pane.
I watch as little streams
they form on the ground.
And then hurry away
without making a sound.
I can see where it cleans
and washes away stain.
Thank you dear Lord
for sending the rain.
I can feel the coolness
and the moisture it brings.
It was sent down by God
to refresh all things.

Heaven's Farewell
10/07/03
|
While I was sleeping
it snowed through the night.
I rose in the morning
to a blanket of white.
It sparkled and glistened
as it lay there so pure.
Planning to stay awhile
as it rested secure.
Not a sound was made
as it gracefully came down.
Covering rooftops of houses
and every building in town.
Silently from the sky
in the starlight it fell.
Being welcomed by earth
and given Heaven's farewell.

Gray Hair
10/21/03 |
Some think gray hair is unattractive
Some say it makes them look old.
Some like me, admire gray hair
And feel it's something for the eye to behold.
For some it's a constant battle
As their gray they try to hide.
But sure enough it always comes back
Though countless times it's been dyed!
Some cover their gray with auburn
Some wash it away with brown.
Some like me, wear it with pride
Because to them it is a crown.

That Old Plank House
11/02/03
|
The house was plain, it wasn't fancy at all
I can't remember anything that hung on the walls
It had no tile nor carpet on the floors
It didn't have shingles, not even storm doors.
It had no siding to cover its frame
But in this house I felt no shame.
The old tin roof would rattle and squeak
When rain pitter-pattered it lulled me to sleep.
It had no bathroom, just an outhouse out back
It could be seen through a bedroom crack.
There was nothing extravagant for the eye to see
But that old plank house was home to me.
It sheltered our family from the winter snow
But it had no insulation and the house was cold.
The long front porch was my favorite spot
When Summer finally came I played there a lot.
Things were much simpler back in yonder days
I miss those times in oh so many ways!
We seemed more content with life back then
And often I wish I could visit again.
With my brothers and sisters, my Mom and my Dad
Many fun filled days at this house we had.
So once in awhile my thoughts take a peek
At that old plank house that once stood at Rock Creek.

Winter Is Approaching
11/14/03
|
As I sit in my living room
and I look outside
I can see how the leaves
have all withered and died.
I no longer see flowers
with their beautiful blooms
Winter is approaching
and it will be here soon.
The shimmering green grass
has now turned to brown
And it lies beneath the leaves
that have fallen to the ground.
The hummingbirds are gone
and so are the bees
Winter is approaching
with it's chilly cold breeze.
The life that was there
that I saw with my eyes
Will be gone for a season
then it will arise.

The Love Of A Mother
11/25/034 |
It was Christmas Eve night
and we all gathered round.
With so many talking
no hush was found.
Some were opening gifts
while others ate their share.
But Kristi was sad
because Emma wasn't there.
I know she was hurting
in more ways than one.
She was missing her baby
and it was hard to have fun.
Though she had Katie, and Gracie,
and Braxton there too!
She longed for her baby
that she hardly knew.
Her motherly instinct
she simply couldn't hide.
As she longed for Emma
she quietly cried.
As I watched her weeping
and I felt her pain.
I saw the love of a Mother,
that she could not restrain.

Another Christmas
12/06/03
|
It's cold and raining
And sleet's on its way.
Snow is in the forecast
For this Christmas day.
The tree is up
And the star is aglow.
The gifts are all wrapped
With a bright matching bow.
The fireplace is flickering
And the flames are high.
We can hardly wait
To taste Mamma's pumpkin pie!
The turkey is baking
And the table is set.
But outside it's still raining
And the roads are all wet.
Yet everyone is happy
And glad to be here.
To celebrate another Christmas
With their family this year!
